Russia is ready to suspend the free trade zone agreement with Ukraine
after the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement comes into effect, Tatyana
Golendeyeva, deputy chief of the Russian Federal Customs Service said.
"We are considering the issue of suspending the
free trade agreement or terminating it completely. It concerns stopping custom-free
imports of Ukrainian products," Golendeyeva told reporters in Simferopol
on Friday, according to Interfax.
According to Golendeyeva, the decision could be made
after the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement comes into effect, however the exact
timeline when the agreement starts operating has not been determined yet. Other
Customs Union states will be able to leave the free trade zone agreement with
Ukraine as well, she said.
