The Baltic Fleet’s
frigate Yaroslavl Mudry and tanker Lena have joined the Russian Navy’s
permanent taskforce in the Mediterranean Sea.
KALININGRAD, April
26. /TASS/. The Baltic Fleet’s frigate Yaroslavl Mudry and tanker Lena
performing missions in distant waters have joined the Russian Navy’s permanent
taskforce in the Mediterranean Sea, the Fleet’s press office reported on
Thursday.
"The Yaroslav
Mudry and the tanker Lena have completed their passage through the Strait of
Gibraltar and entered the Mediterranean Sea where they will continue
accomplishing combat training missions as part of the Russian Navy’s permanent
taskforce," the press office said.
During their passage
to the Mediterranean through the Atlantic, the crews of the Yaroslav Mudry and
the Lena held shipborne damage control drills and practiced maneuvering in the
areas of intensive shipping and fishing.
The Yaroslav Mudry
and the Lena left Baltiysk (the Kaliningrad Region) on April 15. They set off
for the Mediterranean Sea as part of a planned rotation of the Russian Navy’s
permanent taskforces.
