Russian parliamentarians open to dialogue with Ukraine — lawmaker

The Russian Federation Council speaker says attempts to have dialog with Ukraine's parliament failed.

MOSCOW, June 29. /TASS/. Speaker of the Russian Federation Council upper house of parliament Valentina Matviyenko said on Wednesday that the Russian parliament is still open to dialogue with the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (parliament), despite the previous unsuccessful attempts to establish contact with the Ukrainian colleagues.

"As for me, my conscience is clear regarding the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. We have made repeated attempts within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (of the CIS countries), as well as at the bilateral level to invite our colleagues from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to dialogue. Unfortunately, our attempts have failed, but we still remain open to such a dialogue", the speaker of the Federation Council told reporters.

Matviyenko said that "the parliamentary dialogue should be maintained in any conditions."
