“More
than 40 trucks brought more than 400 tons of humanitarian cargo, including
foodstuffs, medications and construction materials, have arrived in Lugansk,”
the press service said, adding that there were no unforeseen situations and
“the cargo was delivered as usual.”
All the vehicles went through customs and border control
on the Russian-Ukrainian border in the presence of representatives of the
Ukrainian customs and border services. Both the vehicles and supporting
documents were checked.
The cars are currently unloaded in the presence of local
authorities representatives who distribute humanitarian aid, including among
the socially significant facilities in the Lugansk region. “As soon as the last
car is unloaded, all vehicles will immediately leave for Russia’s Rostov
region,” the Emergencies Ministry said.
This is the 53rd humanitarian aid convoy for residents
of the Lugansk and Donetsk republics since mid-August 2014. Since then, more
than 62,000 tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered to Donbass, which
helped prevent a humanitarian disaster in the region.
