Night Wolves bikers honor memory of Soviet liberator soldiers in Prague

In Prague’s central Wenceslas Square several dozens of pro-Ukrainian activists made attempts to bar the motorbike convoy

PRAGUE, May 7. /TASS/. Over 100 bikers of the Russian Night Wolves motorcycling club taking part in the rally "Roads of Victory - To Berlin" arrived in the Czech capital of Prague on Saturday.

"The bikers embrace the club’s members and our friends from Russia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Austria and Kazakhstan," Andrey Bobrovsky, who is in charge of the motorbike rally this year, told TASS.

In Prague’s central Wenceslas Square several dozens of pro-Ukrainian activists made attempts to bar the motorbike convoy. Waving Ukrainian flags and chanting anti-Russian slogans, they shouted insults at the bikers.

Police cut short their attempts to block traffic on the square.

Later on, the Night Wolves bikers honored the memory of 437 Soviet soldiers buried at Olsany cemetery located in downtown Prague. They laid wreaths and flowers at the monument to the Soviet liberator soldier there.

Hundreds of Czech nationals and Russian compatriots joined the Night Wolves’ action at the Olsany cemetery, expressing their gratitude to the former Soviet Union and Russia. Over 100,000 Soviet servicemen died in battles liberating Czechoslovakia from the Nazis.

Earlier, the bikers honored the memory of Red Army soldiers in Slovakia. On Friday, they laid flowers at the monument to Soviet soldiers in the Austrian capital of Vienna and on Sunday they are planning to arrive in Berlin to mark Victory Day there.
