MOSCOW, October 26.
/TASS/. Ships and aircraft of the Russian Black Sea Fleet will hold drills to
practise repelling a notional enemy’s air strike against Crimea, Fleet
spokesman Nikolay Voskresensky said on Monday.
"The Samum missile hovercraft, the Mirazh small missile-carrying ship and the Shuya R-60 and R-109 missile boats will practise repelling an enemy’s air strikes at the Black Sea Fleet’s combat training ranges off Crimea today and tomorrow. For this purpose, Su-24 frontline bombers of the Black Sea Fleet’s naval aviation will be involved in this episode," the spokesman said.
After repelling an air attack, the ships will practise delivering a missile strike against a simulated enemy’s ships and engaging in an artillery battle with a naval strike force, which will be simulated by the vessels of the fleet’s coastal defense brigade.
"The ships are expected to live-fire cruise missiles in the final part of the drills to hit sea targets," Voskresensky said.
The exercises will be held under the command of Crimean naval base commander Yuri Zemsky, the fleet spokesman said.
