KIEV, October 20. /TASS/. Ukrainian forces plan to start withdrawing weapons in the Donetsk region in the Debaltsevo direction on Tuesday, the press service of the military operation in eastern Ukraine has said.
"The withdrawal will begin in the morning in the Debaltsevo direction," the press service said in a statement.
Debaltsevo is located in the Donetsk region and is adjacent to the administrative border of the Luhansk region.
On Tuesday, Kiev forces will withdraw tanks and also artillery weapons with the caliber under 100mm and mortars with the caliber under 120mm. The weapons will be withdrawn to the distance of at least 15km from the contact line.
The defense ministry spokesman of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Eduard Basurin, said the weapons withdrawal would take place in three stages: firstly, from the Debaltsevo direction, then from the southern direction and finally from the contact line near Donetsk.
The Luhansk republic is also due to launch the second phase of weapons withdrawal on Tuesday and will pull back tanks from the "South" sector. The Donetsk republic earlier said it would begin withdrawing weapons on October 21 on condition that Kiev carries out no provocations.
