ROSTOV-ON-DON, April
10. /TASS/. Russia's S-400 missile system combat units of the Southern Military
District stationed in Crimea successfully fended off a simulated missile
attack, head of the district’s press service Vadim Astafyev told reporters on
Wednesday.
"As part of the
inspection of the skills and expertise gained over the winter, the Southern
Military District’s 4th Air and Air Defense Forces Army S-400 Triumf missile
system combat units deployed in Crimea began exercises to fend off a missile
attack launched by a simulated enemy. Having moved to the starting position
point and having fulfilled the routine tasks to set up the systems into firing
position, the S-400 Triumfs detected and acquired the target, simulated by the
tactical Sukhoi Su-24 bombers," he said.
To fend off the
intensive strike on the S-400 positions, Pantsir-S1 missile system units were
deployed. After intercepting the ballistic missiles of the simulated enemy, the
Triumfs (S-400s) and Pantsirs practiced switching the starting and firing
positions.
