A militia source reports 10 artillery shells.
DONETSK, August 22. /TASS/. Ukraine’s forces shelled
Dokuchayevsk located near the contact line from artillery weapons with the
caliber of 122mm late on Sunday, a law enforcement source in the
self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic said.
"At around 10.30 p.m. the Ukrainian side opened
fire at Dokuchayevsk from 122mm artillery weapons. A total of 10 artillery
shells have been fired," the source told the Donetsk news agency.
During the shelling of Dokuchayevsk the Kiev forces also
used infantry combat vehicles, grenade launchers and small arms, according to
the source.
The DPR operative command earlier reported that the Kiev
forces had shelled the republic’s territory 520 times over the past 24 hours,
and the situation remains tense in the region.
The participants of the Contact Group on settling the
crisis in eastern Ukraine agreed to observe the silence regime starting from
midnight on April 30. This is the eighth ceasefire agreement since the autumn
of 2014.
However, the Ukrainian army has repeatedly violated the truce opening
fire from mortars, tanks and artillery weapons that were to have been withdrawn
under the Minsk peace deal.
