First Frenchmen Join Eastern Ukraine Independence Forces

MOSCOW, August 21 (RIA Novosti) – The first four French volunteers joined independence supporters of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic this week, one of the French volunteers, Guillaume, said Thursday.

“There are four of us in total: Michelle, Victor and Nicolas besides [me]. We are French 'volontaires', we could be called 'precurseurs'. In other words, we are the vanguard, another group of our compatriots is either preparing for a trip to Ukraine, or on the way," Guillaume said.

There are no other Frenchmen among eastern Ukraine militia yet, Guillaume added.

“It was said that there are several Spaniards, but we haven’t met them yet,” the French volunteer added.
