Kiev forces shell three villages in self-proclaimed Donetsk republic — report

Along with the mortars, the Ukrainian troops also used infantry combat vehicles, grenade launchers and small arms.

DONETSK, September 12. /TASS/. Ukraine’s forces shelled from mortars the outskirts of three villages to the north of Donetsk late on Sunday, a local law enforcement source has told the Donetsk news agency.

"Between 9.20 p.m. and 1.30 a.m. the Ukrainian side conducted the shelling of the outskirts of Yasinovataya, Spartak and Sakhanka. The fire was opened from mortars with the caliber of 82mm and 120mm," the source said.

A total of 38 shells were fired from the Kiev forces’ positions, according to the source. Along with the mortars, the Ukrainian troops also used infantry combat vehicles, grenade launchers and small arms.

The participants of the Contact Group on settlement in eastern Ukraine at the meeting in Minsk on August 26 declared an indefinite ceasefire in Donbass starting from September 1. This was the ninth attempt since autumn 2014 to observe the silence regime in the region. However, the sides continue accusing each other of ceasefire violations.
