Crimean leader Sergey Aksyonov says
he is certain that the new Ukrainian parliament poses no threat to Russia’s
security
SIMFEROPOL, October 27. /TASS/. Head of the Republic of
Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said on Monday he saw no prospects for constructive
co-operation with Ukraine’s new parliament.
“This membership instils no optimist in me. The presence
of such individuals as [Radical Party leader Oleg] Lyashko in the parliament is
nonsense for me. Thus ‘pitchfork’ populist is absolutely useless there,”
Aksyonov told TASS. “I so far see no position that would be constructive for
Crimea.”
According to Aksyonov, the Ukrainian mass media largely
contributed to the formation of the position of Ukrainian citizens at the
Sunday parliamentary elections. “Media today are acting with the aim of forming
in people’s minds a certain mess and a negative attitude towards Russia,” he
said.
Aksyonov said he was certain that the new Ukrainian
parliament poses no threat to Russia’s security. “I think we have enough levers
to ensure security of Russia and Crimea,” the republic head said.
Results of early parliamentary election in Ukraine
With 50.08% of the votes counted, the People’s Front led by Arseniy Yatsenyuk has a narrow lead in Sunday's parliamentary elections gaining 21.61% and is closely followed by the Petro Poroshenko Bloc with 21.45%.The Samopomich (Self-Help) party headed by mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovy comes third with 11.10% of the ballots. The Opposition Bloc led by Yuriy Boyko has 9.82%, Oleh Lyashko’s Radical Party has 7.38% and the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has 5.69%.
