Donetsk, July 19, the Donetsk News Agency
The Donetsk People’s Republic will return the military
equipment, removed within the framework of the unilateral withdrawal of tanks
and other weapons of caliber up to 100 mm, Deputy Commander of
Corps of the MoD DPR Eduard Basurin told the journalists at a briefing.
“If the Ukrainian side undertakes an attempt to break
the contact line or will conduct artillery strikes hazardous for civilian lives
of the DPR Army, the weaponry will be returned to the positions, though, only
after the relevant order of the highest command is issued”, — Deputy Commander
of Corps said.
Earlier on July 19 the representatives of the DPR
authorities, the OSCE and the Joint Center of Ceasesfire Coordination and
Control visited two areas near the disengagement line, from which the DPR Army
tanks had been withdrawn.
A day before the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s
Republics declared the start of withdrawal of tanks and armoured vehicles
equipped with cannonry up to 100 mm in caliber to the distance less
than 3 km. The DPR heavy armaments remain only on the positions to the
north of Donetsk and in the area of Debaltsevo – at the most tense spots
on the contact line.
The withdrawal of the equipment in question had been
discussed in Minsk for a long period, nevertheless the agreement with Kiev had
never been reached, and then the DPR and LPR decided to act unilaterally in the
interests of the prompt settlement of the conflict.
