KCK announces democratic resolution declaration

Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Presidency has released a declaration highlighting the steps needed for the continuation of the democratic resolution process in search of a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question.

KCK remarked that the AKP government used İmralı talks as an instrument to gain time and to eliminate the Kurdish liberation movement, noting that it also treated the talks with the legal, democratic Kurdish political movement.

Reminding that the Kurdish side has done its part for the advancement of the resolution process, KCK noted that the AKP government has taken no steps for maintaining the non-conflict environment achieved with the ceasefire announced by the Kurdish movement, nor for the achievement of a solution to the Kurdish issue and democratisation in the country.

Pointing out that the Turkish state's direct support to the war waged against Rojava meant sabotaging the democratic resolution process and displaying an irresponsible attitude towards the solution of the Kurdish question. KCK said it was not a political approach to give effort to break the Rojava revolution while promising steps for a solution in North Kurdistan. The Kurdish movement underlined that recognizing Kurds and their will was essential for coming up with a solution to the Kurdish issue.
KCK said that it was essential that the following three basic demands of the Kurdish people be satisfied for the achievement of a peaceful and democratic solution and to ensure the ending of the assimilation and cultural genocide of Kurds.

-the recognition of the Kurdish existence, identity and culture and initiation of constitutional and legal assurance, the recognition of Kurdish people's freedom of thought and organization

-the recognition of the Kurdish self-determination,i.e. democratic autonomy

-the recognition of mother tongue education

Underlining that it would be a legitimate right for Kurds to build their free and democratic life with their own will and power unless their rights are recognized, KCK said a new struggle term would be launched in such an event.
KCK added that the fate of the non-conflict environment and the steps the Kurdish liberation movement will take will be depending on the attitude the AKP government and the Turkish state will be displaying in the coming days.

Remarking that the Turkish state and the ruling AKP government have wasted the historic chance and opportunity offered by the democratic resolution process initiated by Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, KCK underlined that "Should the Turkish state and government fail to change their present attitude towards the Kurdish issue and to do what is necessary for the solution of the problem, our movement will re-evaluate the state of affairs and take steps for building a free and democratic life with its own will and method in line with its theoretical line and paradigm". KCK called on democratic circles and international powers to stand by the Kurdish people for the solution of the Kurdish issue and Turkey's democratisation.

KCK ended its statement by Turkey and other countries in the Middle East to support the Kurdish leader Öcalan's paradigm to ensure a free and democratic life in the region. It also called on Kurdish people and democracy forces in Turkey to enhance the struggle and organization for the achievement of a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue and democratisation across the country.

KCK: PM is after winning elections not peace

Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Presidency has released a statement in response to the so-called democratization package Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced yesterday. KCK said the package has revealed the fact that the AKP government is not pursuing a policy of solution but rather one of deadlock and that it is after nothing but winning another election.

KCK said they would respond to the package of the AKP government with a declaration to be released next week, adding that this statement has been released to display KCK's attitude towards the package. “The government's treatment of the major problem in the country in line with its election calculations and delaying policies reveals the fact that it has neither an intention nor capacity to come up with a solution to the Kurdish question. Yet, a political work cannot be expected to present solutions on a democratic basis unless it is prepared in a democratic way”, KCK underlined.

Criticizing the AKP government for displaying an unserious attitude in response to the efforts and steps of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and the Kurdish movement, KCK pointed out that the government has taken no steps within the democratic resolution process because of its intention to create an opportunity for delaying the solution and gaining time until after the elections.

Remarking that AKP tried to make use of the non-conflict environment and the resolution process, to use the Kurdish leader as an instrument and to eliminate the Kurdish liberation movement, KCK said this meant sabotaging the process initiated by Öcalan.

KCK underlined that coming up with a solution to the Kurdish issue could only be achieved by recognizing the national existence of Kurds as a people, their political will and social rights. “The AKP government cannot grant Kurds with some of their rights and deny some others, nor can it determine what the rights of Kurds are”, it underlined.

KCK said that the AKP government avoided taking steps for democratic politics because it thinks this will be the end of its hegemonic mindset and structure. “Which democracy and democratic politics in Turkey could we possibly talk about while seeing a failure to reach an agreement and negotiation for the solution of the main problem of the country?”, KCK added.

The maintenance of the policies of exploitation and cultural genocide goes against the essential process Kurdish people's leader initiated for the achievement of permanent peace and solution, KCK said and added that "Treating the peace process as if there is no will and interlocutor of Kurds and taking steps for show does not only mean displaying an attitude and practice that eliminates of the presence of a peace process, but is also an irresponsibility against the peoples of Turkey".

KCK also criticized the unserious and shallowed attitude the government has displayed towards the Alewi community by giving them promises at first and desisting from these promises later in contemplation of the reactions and objections it will draw. KCK ended its statement by calling on the Kurdish people and democracy forces to enhance the struggle for democratization and a solution to the Kurdish question in response to the AKP government that has wasted the peace process with its delaying policies and election calculations.
